POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist the Facility and Grounds Director in training and supervision of cleaning staff to ensure staff cleans and sanitizes assigned areas, including such duties as mopping, dusting, and trash removal. Will oversee assigned duties, inspect work, investigate complaints regarding maintenance/custodial services and take corrective action. The Manager will provide inventory updates of supplies and equipment, direct/assist new employees, and monitor the safety/cleanliness. Will also complete Maintenance Technician duties including, but not limited to window washing, meeting set up, pool cleaning, snow removal, groundskeeping, and other related responsibilities, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must at least 21 years old, have a high school diploma, or its equivalent.
2. Minimum 2 years experience in related areas: housekeeping and general maintenance, including experience/ability to operate small and large machinery, such as vacuums, buffers and hand tools, such as hammers and screwdriver and supervising related employees.
3. Requires strong interpersonal and supervisory skills and the ability to work independently, solve problems with minimal direction, manage multiple tasks, supervise and train staff and communicate effectively with members, guests and staff to ensure well-maintained facilities.
4. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
5. Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
6. Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
7. Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
8. Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
2. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
3. Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.
4. Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
5. Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
6. Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
7. Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi – reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
8. Ability to be on call on evenings and weekends, in the event of an emergency as needed
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Ensures Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment. May perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal, and general cleaning.
2. Assists Facility and Grounds Director in recruiting, hiring, training, developing, scheduling and directing personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
3. Perform equipment and general maintenance as needed, including, but not limited to, minor electrical, plumbing and HVAC.
4. Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
5. Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed.
6. Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to Property Manager.
7. Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies.
8. May set up furniture for events as needed.
9. Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings.
10. Highly flexible schedule with varying hours including working evenings and weekends.
11. All other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
