Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Director of Business Partnerships is responsible for developing and managing strategic initiatives that strengthen community partnerships, increase philanthropic support, and promote the YMCA’s mission and brand. This role oversees business partnerships, including television, advertising, sponsorships, and Friends of the Y programs, while leading the planning and execution of fundraising special events and corporate membership initiatives. The Director works collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders to expand the YMCA’s reach, impact, and financial sustainability.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, nonprofit management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, fundraising, sponsorships, or corporate relations.
  • Proven track record of securing and managing corporate partnerships and sponsorships.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in planning and executing fundraising events preferred.
Essential Functions

Business & Community Partnerships

  • Develop, grow, and maintain business relationships with local organizations, media outlets, and community leaders to support YMCA programs and initiatives.
  • Secure television, advertising, and sponsorship opportunities that increase visibility and advance the YMCA mission.
  • Lead and expand the Friends of the Y program to engage donors and partners in ongoing support.

Fundraising Special Events

  • Plan, organize, and execute fundraising events that align with the YMCA’s mission and annual development goals.
  • Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and committees to maximize event participation, sponsorships, and net revenue.
  • Ensure event experiences reflect the YMCA’s values and create meaningful engagement with donors and participants.
  • Assist the Chief Development Officer in creating and implementing Branch Campaigns in partnership with the Association and Branch Boards, volunteers, staff, program participants and members, all working collaboratively to reach a specific goal, as defined by the Association operating budget.

Corporate Engagement

  • Develop and manage Corporate Team Building sales programs, offering customized experiences for businesses that align with YMCA values.
  • Lead the planning, promotion, and execution of the annual Corporate Challenge, engaging local businesses in team-based wellness, community service, and fundraising activities.
  • Partner with employers to provide corporate memberships, wellness programs, and employee engagement opportunities.
  • Create and implement strategies to grow corporate membership participation and revenue.
  • Monitor and evaluate corporate membership trends to inform outreach and retention strategies.

Marketing & Brand Advancement

  • Work closely with marketing and communications staff to ensure partnership and event promotions align with YMCA brand standards.
  • Develop compelling materials and campaigns to support sponsorship, membership, and fundraising initiatives.

Relationship Management & Stewardship

  • Maintain ongoing communication with partners, sponsors, and corporate members to ensure satisfaction and long-term engagement.
  • Provide timely recognition and reporting to sponsors and partners, demonstrating the impact of their support.

Collaboration & Mission Alignment

  • Partner with YMCA leadership to align advancement strategies with organizational goals.
  • Serve as a representative of the YMCA at community events, networking functions, and public engagements.
