Job Description

The Somerville YMCA, a cornerstone of our community for over 150 years, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Institutional Giving Officer to join our growing Development team. This position offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future of philanthropy at the Y as we prepare for a transformational campaign to build a new, modern, and accessible facility that will serve generations to come.

Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus.

·       3–5 years of demonstrated success in institutional fundraising, preferably in a nonprofit setting.

·       Exceptional writing, communication, and research skills.

·       Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities with attention to detail.

·       Collaborative spirit and ability to work across teams.

·       Passion for the mission of the YMCA and commitment to serving a diverse community.

Essential Functions

The Institutional Giving Officer will play a pivotal role in securing support from foundations, corporations, and other institutional funders. Responsibilities include:

·       Research, identify, and cultivate relationships with institutional funders aligned with the YMCA’s mission.

·       Develop and manage a pipeline of foundation and corporate prospects.

·       Prepare compelling grant proposals, reports, and related communications.

·       Collaborate with senior leadership, program staff, and campaign counsel to align funding opportunities with strategic priorities.

·       Track deadlines, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with funder requirements.

·       Support the overall fundraising campaign by contributing expertise in institutional philanthropy.
