Job Description

The YMCA of South Florida is seeking to hire a dynamic, collaborative, energetic individual as VP of Youth Development. Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President of Youth Development will provide strategic leadership and direction to the YMCA of South Florida’s Broward and Miami Dade Afterschool Programs This includes the administration, management compliance, marketing, and program development of Afterschool and Camp Programs (fee-based and grant-funded). The individual in this role will lead three teams comprised of approximately 500 staff members, manage an overall budget of approximately $20M, foster collaboration with two School Boards (Broward and Miami Dade County), and drive program excellence.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities required:

· Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, preferred.

· Minimum of ten years of experience overseeing Youth Development Programs; Grant Acquisition, Management & Compliance (County, State and Federal), and program development of at least $20M.

· Minimum of ten years of fiscal management experience, with an overall budget of approximately $20M.

· Minimum of ten years of experience leading school age programs in multiple school districts comprised of at least 500 staff members.

· Demonstrated experience collaborating with Public School representatives (e.g., Boards, Principals, etc.) in Broward and Miami Dade Counties, along with demonstrated experience working with childcare agencies such as the Department of Children’s and Families, the Children’s Advisory Council, and the Children’s Trust.

· Minimum of 10 years of experience managing complex partnerships and relationships with municipalities, government agencies and funders.

· Minimum of 10 years of grant writing, acquisition and management experience, dealing with competitive grant funding processes of a budget size of at least $10M. This includes conducting presentations to grant funders at inception and renewal.

· Minimum of ten years of supervisory experience mentoring and /or developing Afterschool and Camp Program staff.

· Individuals must be team players, comfortable with collaborative environments.

· Must have attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

· Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to relate with and present to individuals at all levels.

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

· Comfortable will public speaking.

· Excellent computer skills, (Microsoft Word and Excel).

· Spanish speaking a plus -but not required.

· Director’s Credentials, a plus.

Essential Functions

Essential Functions / Job Duties:

This high energy executive will provide strategic and operational leadership to approximately 135 Afterschool locations and 65 Camp locations in Broward and Miami Dade counties. Additionally, this position is responsible for budget oversight of $20M consisting of 70% grant funded and 30% of parent pay afterschool and summer camp programming.

Specific responsibilities for this role include the following:

· Oversee the development of systems designed to enhance quality, efficiency, and growth within the school-Age (fee-based and grant-funded) Programs throughout both Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

· Ensure that Executive Directors develop and maintain excellent community relationships with applicable School Boards, Department of Children & Families, Grant Funders and partnering community agencies aligned with services related to the Youth Development Department and the YMCA.

· Recruit, supervise, evaluate, and motivate Youth Development staff to meet quality and performance standards of the Y.

· Monitor program enrollment, grant funding of approximately $10M, and payments to ensure that Youth Development is on track financially to meet and /or exceed its goals.

· Prepare the annual budget; manage and take appropriate action to correct monthly variances.

· Manage, monitor, implement and enforce all contract requirements for all grant-funded programs.

· Project-manage the renewal of grant-funds, as applicable.

· Negotiate contracts (Budget & Scope of Services), including contracts of federal, state, county and foundation grant-funders, School Districts, and various partnering municipalities.

· Ensure that the Youth Development staff is adhering to the YMCA of South Florida’s Safety and Risk guidelines and protocols.

· Oversee and lead Youth Development Annual Giving Campaign.

· Ensure that annual Youth Development training courses are coordinated for all Childcare Administrators and staff.
