Job Description

The Youth and Teen Program Director develops, organizes, and leads high quality YMCA programming for youth and teens. This includes after school care, summer day camps, teen leadership programs and special events. The Director ensures a safe, inclusive and engaging environment that promotes character development, leadership, and community belonging for youth ages 5 to 18.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education, youth development, recreation or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in youth/teen programs, staff supervision, or non profit leadership.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs in a fast-paced, flexible environment.
  • Experience with community partnerships and voluntter coordination.
  • CPR, First Aid and AED certifications (or obtained within 30 days).
  • CDL with "P" endorsement (or be eligible to obtain within 60 days).
  • Bilingual (preferred but not required)
Essential Functions

Youth Program Leadership

  • Lead, grow and evaluate youth programs including After School, Summer Day Camps and other out-of-school prgrams.
  • Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate, and inclusive activities with emphasis on safety, character building, skill development, and fun.
  • Oversee daily operations of youth programs including staffing, enrollment, program schedule and behavior mangement.
  • Build and maintain Strong relationships with program parents and families.

Teen Program Leadership

  • Lead and expand teen-specific programming with a focus on social and emotional learning, leadership skill development and volunteer/employment opportunities. Such as Leaders In Training, Middle School After School Program, Leaders Club, Y Empower, etc.
  • Design and implement teen specific engagement strategies that encourage teen program participation.
  • Serve as a postive mentor and role model for teen participants.

Staff & Volunteer Development

  • Recruit, hire, train and supervise PT youth and teen staff and volunteers.
  • Provide onboarding, ongoing training and performance feedback.
  • Model relationship-building and youth mentorship skills across teams.
  • Maintain certifcations and safety compliance for staff.

Community Engagement & Partnerships

  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with schools, local mental health providers, community partners and families.
  • Represent the YMCA at community events and within local youth serving coaltions.
  • Promote programs through marketing efforts in coordination with YMCA communications team.

Program Administration & Compliance

  • Manage all registration, scheduling and reporting in Daxko and other systems.
  • Maintain accurate program records, incident reports and staff documentation.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with all YMCA , state and other licensing safety protocols.
  • Attend and contribute to YMCA and peer network meetings, trainings, and leadership development opportunities.

Special Events & Youth Initiatives

  • Lead and support events such as Healthy Kid's Day, Fall Festival, Father-Daughter Dance and school break camps.
  • Engage teen volunteers in planning and leading community initiatives.

Fundraising & Budget Management

  • Assist in Annual Campaign efforts including donor outreach and staff participation.
  • Support department budgeting and resource management.
  • Evaluate program performance and participation; adjust programs as needed.
