Seeking experienced philanthropic leader to advance the mission of YMCA of the Rockies through strategic fundraising programs and campaigns.
Job Description

This position supports the work of the YMCA of the Rockies, which operates a mission-based family and group conference and retreat center serving more than 225,000 guests annually. The Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) is primarily responsible for advancing the YMCA Christian mission and the achievement of short and long-term goals by developing and leading a comprehensive financial development program. Responsible for enhancing the philanthropic culture of the Association; identifying, cultivating, and securing major gifts; developing and leading donor stewardship efforts; leading volunteers and staff; and directing all Association fundraising programs and campaigns.

Qualifications
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree and progressive management experience in the nonprofit sector.
  • Personally support the fundraising campaigns of the Association.
  • CFRE or Masters Degree in Nonprofit Management preferred.
  • Possess baseline knowledge of the giving philosophy of high-net-worth individuals.
  • Understand and demonstrate the importance of impact measurements to advance nonprofit missions.
  • Be self-motivated and able to motivate and lead others.
  • Maintain strict confidence of donor data.
  • Possess a minimum of ten years of experience in major gift solicitation ($100K+).
  • Experience in transformational giving is preferred.
  • Grant oversight and/or corporate giving experience is a bonus.
  • Possess exceptional relationship building and organizational skills.
  • Serve as a contributing member of the executive leadership team of the Association, and work closely with the Strategy Team (President/CEO, CFO, COO).
  • Possess (or ability to achieve) Organizational Leader certification through the YMCA of the USA.
  • Oversee data management function within philanthropy department.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Experience with Raisers Edge and wealth research tools is beneficial.
Essential Functions
  • Be knowledgeable about and lead all components of a comprehensive financial development program complimented by high quality impact tracking for mission advancement. This includes, but is not limited to, capital, annual campaign, cabins, grants, endowment, planned giving, Camp Chief Ouray, workforce giving, and next generation giving.
  • Implement and monitor strategies for advancing current and potential donors through all aspects of the gift cycle.
  • Supervise philanthropy directors with ultimate oversight of related teams.
  • Develop and cultivate genuine relationships with current donors and prospects.
  • Serve as staff liaison to the Financial Development Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Maintain responsibility for portfolio of high capacity donors and prospect relationships and support other members of the YMCA team in their relationship management activities.
  • Develop strategies to engage high-net-worth individuals and build a pipeline of major gifts.
  • Provide oversight for member gatherings and donor events.
  • Oversee the collection of mission impact data and studies; leverage it to advance philanthropic investments.
  • Set and implement giving policies, guidelines and reporting standards in collaboration with appropriate leadership, including Board of Directors and CEO.
  • Oversee Association membership program.
  • Successfully manage multiple priorities from multi-functional and diverse areas simultaneously.
  • Possess a valid, USA state issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles.
