Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The School Programs Site Director (Before and After School Care) supports the mission of the West Morris Area YMCA by cultivating an environment that fosters and advances a passion for learning and a spirit of adventure in the children we serve.

Hours:  7-9 am and/or 2:30-6 pm

Qualifications

·         Two years related experience as a coordinator or supervisor of childcare programs preferred.

·         CPR/First aid certification.

·         Possessor of OOL Site Director credentials by NJ OOL.

·         Within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff, Working with Program Volunteers, Bloodborne Pathogens.

·         Ability to effectively relate to diverse groups of people from all socio-economic backgrounds and communities.

·         Completion of state-specific hiring standards prior to working on site, including, fingerprinting and CARI background check. 

·         Understands that the YMCA is a public accommodation committed to the inclusion and compliance with the American Disabilities Act (ADA).

·         Understanding of and enthusiasm for the mission of the YMCA.

·         Bilingual a plus.

Essential Functions

1.    Under the supervision of the Senior Youth Services Director, directs, and coordinates the school age childcare program to ensure high quality programs and established new program activities.

2.    Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

3.    Ensures YMCA program standards are met, and safety procedures followed.

4.    Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.

5.    Is engaged in a professional manner with school administrators, teachers, and custodians.

6.    Maintains proper records/department files (attendance, forms, etc.) as per NJ Office of Licensing.

7.    Provides outstanding service to parents and responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

8.    May organize special events.

9.    Monitors and evaluated the effectiveness of and participation in the program.

10.  Performs other duties as assigned.
