Job Description

Located in in the heart of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina in Black Mountain on a picturesque 1,200-acre campus, the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly is a non-profit conference and retreat center. Under the guidance of the Maintenance Director, the Maintenance Technician supports the daily operation and upkeep of facilities at YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly. This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment, and completing repairs to ensure safe, functional, and comfortable environments for guests and staff. The technician will assist with maintaining plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general mechanical systems, while supporting preventative maintenance programs across guest rooms, meeting spaces, and operational areas. This position would require living on grounds after 90 days.

Qualifications
  • Technical degree/ Trade certification preferred 
  • Minimum of 3 years of maintenance, facilities, or mechanical experience preferred (hospitality or institutional setting is a plus). 
  • Basic working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building maintenance.  
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment. 
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions in English. 
  • Valid driver’s license preferred. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, or holidays as needed. 
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also functioning effectively within a team. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work. 
  • Good time management and organizational skills. 
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills. 
  • Strong customer service mindset, with the ability to interact professionally with guests and staff. 
  • Ability to supervise small staff at times. 
  • Background check required. 
Essential Functions
  • Respond to maintenance requests across campus facilities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. 
  • Perform preventative maintenance in guest rooms and common areas. 
  • Maintain and repair furniture, walls, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Assist with pool equipment and mechanical system maintenance. 
  • Perform scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance tasks. 
  • Maintain tools, supplies, and work areas in an organized manner. 
  • Assist with room turnover maintenance and quality inspections. 
  • Support central plant operations and monitor equipment performance. 
  • Follow OSHA and safety procedures at all times. 
  • Provide excellent customer service to guests and staff. 
  • Document completed maintenance tasks and repairs.
