Job Description

The Senior Director of Building and Grounds oversees the maintenance and cleaning operations of the facility to ensure a safe, clean, and well-functioning environment for members, staff, and volunteers.  

This role supervises employees and manages staff selection, scheduling, training, evaluation, and work quality. Responsibilities also include addressing maintenance and custodial concerns, purchasing and inventorying supplies and equipment, and monitoring building safety and cleanliness. While primarily a leadership role, the position also performs custodial and minor maintenance tasks as needed and may contribute leadership to other center departments or association initiatives. 

Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School diploma and an Associate’s degree, or equivalent, required.
  • 4-5 years of direct experience and supervision of related technical aspects of housekeeping and general maintenance, operation of small and large machinery (i.e. vacuums, buffers, and hand tools).
  • Experience overseeing facility maintenance, custodial operations and safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Demonstrated staff supervision experience, including hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluation.  
  • Supply and equipment purchasing and inventory experience.
  • Ability to address and resolve maintenance or custodial complaints.
  • Hands-on experience with custodial and minor maintenance tasks.
  • Proven leadership ability, including contributing to cross‑departmental or association‑wide initiatives.
