Job Description

The YMCA Fairfax County Loudoun is currently seeking an experienced leader to join our team as the Early Learning Director. Our ideal candidate is able to maintain high expectations while also ensuring a fun and positive environment daily! The Early Learning Director oversees the overall operation of the Early Learning program site(s), including licensing, curriculum development and delivery, and health and safety of the children.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills: We seek a leader with values that align with the Y’s mission:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Recreation, Human Services, etc.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working primarily with preschoolers in a licensed child care center.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills, including staff supervision and development, program development, and working with children and parents.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with children and parents, and committed to working with diverse population.

 

Essential Functions

Some of the exciting things you will do as the Early Learning Director:

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of a licensed preschool facility.
  • Responsible for creating, developing, and maintain a positive relationship with teachers, parents, and professional development of branch staff.
  • Stays current with all licensing, state, and local regulations and ensures that the site and all of its staff are in compliance at all times.
  • Provides training and orientation for new parents, teachers, and children, including touring families and transitioning children.
  • Hiring, training, coaching, supervising, and evaluating early learning staff.
  • Ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly communication to parents to support the lesson plans, the milestones, and development of the children within the program.
  • Prepares annual budget of the department for presentation to administration and periodic forecasting presentations.
