Job Description

As our Finance Administrator, you’ll oversee and manage all accounting functions, ensure regulatory compliance, and guide financial strategy to support our mission. You’ll work closely with leadership to provide accurate financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and audits, all while fostering a culture of integrity and purpose.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or MBA preferred)
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a nonprofit setting
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, fund accounting, budgeting, and audits
  • Skilled in Excel and accounting software (experience with shared services a plus)
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and solutions-focused
  • Strong communicator and collaborative leader
  • Able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
Essential Functions

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll oversight.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Lead monthly financial close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and non-profit accounting standards.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and manage the annual operating budget.
  • Provide financial forecasting, scenario modeling, and analysis to support strategic planning.
  • Monitor budget performance and prepare regular reports for executive staff and the Board of Directors.
     

Audit & Compliance

  • Coordinate and lead the annual external audit process.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory and grant reporting requirements (e.g., IRS Form 990, SEFA).
  • Ensure sound internal controls are in place and functioning effectively.

Grants & Fund Accounting

  • Track and manage restricted and unrestricted funds in compliance with donor and grantor guidelines.
  • Work closely with the development team to ensure accurate recording and reporting of contributions and grants.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve as a financial advisor and strategic partner to the CEO and senior leadership.
  • Supervise and support accounting staff and promote a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Support organization-wide process improvements and systems implementation.

Required Certifications
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or advanced degree (MBA).
