At the Alamance County YMCA, we believe that well-maintained, clean, and safe spaces are essential to strengthening our community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Facilities Technician plays a vital role in supporting this mission by ensuring the upkeep, safety, appearance, and functionality of our facilities and grounds, including our outdoor day camp, Camp Frontier.

Qualifications
  • Experienced Professional: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in facility management, engineering, or related field preferred. Minimum 3 years of experience in facility maintenance.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in the operation and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and fitness equipment. Certifications such as HVAC or CMRP are a plus. Acquire a Pool Operatior LIcense within 90 days of employment.
  • Detail Oriented: Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Problem Solver: Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to address and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
  • Leader: Effective leadership and supervisory skills, with experience managing team preferred.
  • Customer Focused: Exceptional customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Organized: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Essential Functions
  • Supervision of Part Time Staff
    • Provide day to day supervision, training and task delegation to part time maintenance staff to ensure safe, effective and high quality facility upkeep.
    • Support part time team members in prioritizing work orders, understanding YMCA facility standards and following proper safety procedures.
    • Foster a positive, respectful work environment that reflects YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Safety Oversight
    • Maintain compliance with all local, state and federal regulations through cooperation with fire, health and building officials.
    • Ensure secure building access and report any safety or maintenance concerns in a timely manner.
    • Operate tools and machinery safely and effectively using proper ergonomic techniques.
    • Participate in the YMCA's safety culture and attend safety related trainings and meetings as assigned.
  • Contractor & Vendor Management
    • Coordinate and oversee work completed by  external contractors and vendors to ensure quality and timeliness.
    • Review maintenance and repair bids, providing informed recommendations to leadership.
  • Strategic Facility Planning
    • Assist in planning and implementing long-term facility improvements and preventive maintenance projects aligned with YMCA goals.
    • Support seasonal facility readiness by coordinating tasks such as snow/ice removal, lawn care and outdoor area upkeep.
  • Project Coordination & Communication
    • Communiate the status of maintenance and repair projects clearly and regularly with leadership and relevant staff.
    • Complete assigned projects in a timely, efficient and professional manner to minimize disruption to YMCA operations.
  • Routine Facility Maintenance
    • Perform routine daily, weekly and seasonal maintenance and cleaning duties, including but not limited to:
      • Mopping, vacuuming, window cleaning and trash removal
      • Pressure washing and equipment upkeep
      • Pool maintenance and related facility systems
  • Inventory & Supply Management
    • Monitor inventory levels of maintenance and cleaning supplies and reorder stock as necessary to avoid shortages and delays.
  • Organizational Support
    • Attend YMCA meetings and trainings as assigned to stay informed of operational and safety updates.
    • Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission, values and operational success of the YMCA and its members.
