The Aquatic Program Director is responsible for the supervision and administration of all aquatic programs at 2 locations – Lake Highlands YMCA with the year round indoor pool and seasonal outdoor pool, Richardson YMCA with a seasonal outdoor pool. This will include, but not limited to: swim lessons, swim team, aquatic certification classes, lap/recreational swim, outreach Safety Around Water swim program (Urban Swim and Urban Swim Academy). In addition, the Aquatic Program Director plans and administers approved budgets, staffs the preceding programs, assists with the annual Campaign, and maintains the pool equipment. This position is responsible for the development, delivery, and growth of all traditional, non traditional, outreach, safety aquatic programs as well as the leadership and development of staff, instructors, and volunteers.
In addition, this person will do the following:
Must direct and manage all of the aquatic programs, complying with Association standards and safety procedures.
Must maintain proper documentation on outreach program participation, progression, and eligibility.
Develops, produces and disseminates appropriate program information in order to promote aquatic programs to current members.
Ensures that program areas, equipment and supplies are maintained in an orderly and safe manner.
The incumbent will be an advocate for the organization in the community and spearhead efforts to engage this under-served portion of the YMCA community.
Requires a 4 year college degree and three or more years of supervisory experience in an aquatic program, including program development and budget management. Must have experience hiring, training, and developing staff. Excellent communication and public relations skills necessary. Must have knowledge of marketing and promotions as it relates to encouraging registrations for non traditional aquatics programs. Must be able to make the necessary changes to ensure year end budget target. Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities and successfully achieve goals. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
