This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Aquatics Director, under the direction of the Executive Director, provides leadership and management for the Aquatics Department staff, budget, fundraising, and the program and membership experience per all South Wood County YMCA policies, procedures, and standards.
Education:
B.A. Degree in Education, Recreation or a related field, or comparable work experience preferred
Supervise all aspects of aquatics, including: aquatics fitness programs, specialty group programs, scheduling, and pool operations.
Understand and adhere to all Y policies and guidelines.
Plan and develop all aquatics programs.
Maintain high quality of programs.
Recruit, develop, organize, and supervise program staff and volunteers.
Develop and update program training manuals.
Review and evaluate staff performance.
Conduct lifeguard, swim lesson instructor, and safety certification trainings.
Responsible for safety drills/audits, monthly documented staff meetings/development, and training.
Ensures staff certification records are current and fulfill all in-service standards.
Contribute to advertising composition for senior/specialty group and aquatic programs.
Ensure adequate marketing of all programs.
Organize and compile program schedules.
Collect and compile program evaluations.
Support Y programming on non-adult and aquatics programs.
Coordinate and facilitate all programs in your department.
Must stay within budgetary guidelines for income and expenses in relation to program and instructor fees.
Responsible for all correspondence related to adult programs, specialty groups, and aquatics.
Supervise on and off-site programs: Group orientation, adequate host communication, and available support for problem-solving.
Schedule monthly service meetings with department staff to work out logistics.
Coordinate group logistics and disseminate program details in a timely manner to appropriate directors and department heads.
Develop new programs to meet budget growth expectations and service to our members.
Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Review and certify accuracy of department payroll.
Ensure safety procedures are followed and incident/accident reports are filed promptly.

Required Certifications:
Must maintain a valid Driver’s License & Clean Driving Record
Complete CPR/AED, First Aid, and Lifeguard Certification / LTI
