Job Description
Under the direction of the Aquatics Director and Senior Program Director, the Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for assisting in managing all daily pool operations. Including program and facility supervision, program development, maintaining safety standards, supervision of aquatic staff, and staffing coverage.
Qualifications
- Must be 20+ years old
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 2 years of management and supervision experience
- Previous lifeguard and swim instructor experience
- Available evenings and weekends
- Program Supervision hours 5-10 hours per week
- Lifeguard/Instructor hours 5-10 hours per week
- Fluent in Spanish (not required, preferred)
Essential Functions
- Assist in overseeing the operations of the aquatic facility, including scheduling, facility upkeep, coordination, and compliance with health and safety regulations
- Assist in recruitment, training, and scheduling of aquatic staff
- Supervise lifeguards, swim instructors, coaches, and all aquatic programs
- Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating aquatics programs including swim lessons, water fitness classes, rentals, and all recreational swim events
- Maintain accurate records of incident reports, attendance, and Report Cards
- Ensure adherence to all safety and risk management standards; respond promptly and professionally to emergencies
- Communicate effectively with the public, program participants, staff, and other departments
- Promote aquatic programs through community outreach and marketing efforts
- Ability to use our registration and payment system
- Ability to enforce policies, problem solve, and handle emergency situations

- Communicate with all populations of people regardless of race, age, and special needs
- Support YMCA special events and other duties assigned by the Aquatic Director, Senior Program Director or Executive Director/CEO
Required Certifications
- Current certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid
Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Instructor (preferred)
- Department Specific Trainings (must obtain within 90 days of employment)
