Job Description

The YMCA of Greater Richmond is seeking a strategic leader and visionary to guide our organization forward as the Vice President of Community Advancement. The VP will focus on philanthropy, board development, and partnerships with key responsibility for the development and management of their donor portfolio and association partnerships. The VP will provide structure, direction, and supervision to their staff team, serving as an educator, consultant, researcher, communicator, and facilitator.

Qualifications

This position requires a passionate individual with proven operational leadership who can adapt to a continually evolving environment.  Must have commitment to the mission, cause, values, and ethics of the YMCA and demonstrate an understanding of community resources and the ability to engage and partner these resources with the YMCA to meet strategic objectives.  A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of seven years of experience and leadership in facility operations are required. Additional applied skills in budget development and financial analysis, reporting, strategic planning, and oversight of implementation are essential.

Essential Functions
  • Provide leadership in the annual giving campaign and capital campaign cultivating and securing donors and campaign volunteers, and securing gifts. 
  • Provide leadership and training to branch Executive Directors and others on donor cultivation process and on solicitation of major gifts.
  • Coach and train volunteers and staff in fundraising best practices.
  • Plan, solicit, and manage relationships with key legacy donors on planned gifts to continue growth of our endowment fund.
  • Enhance Boards of Management for assigned branches through focused development of volunteers.
  • In conjunction with finance department, ensure timely completion of departmental objectives, and adherence to departmental budgets.
  • Provide financial development reports and other data as needed.
  • Assist with development and dissemination of Y stories and other communications of impact.
  • Maintain a high community profile and involvement. Serve on various boards and attend numerous community functions.

Required Certifications

Starting salary is $105,000 based on experience and qualifications.
