Job Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:  Under the guidance of the Branch Director, this position oversees the development of staff, programs, finances and daily operations of several departments. The Senior Program Director acts as a liaison to committee(s) and advisory board(s) as directed and play an active leadership role in the Association's Strong Community Campaign.  It is anticipated that an average workweek will consist of 50 hours to complete duties.

Qualifications

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:         

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum age 24
  • Four year degree in related field
  • Minimum two to three years’ experience in membership development and management
  • Minimum two to three years’ experience and proven success managing and developing staff and finances
  • Maintain current CPR, AED, first aid and emergency oxygen or acquire within 60 days of hire.
  • Must attend New Employee Orientation within 30 days of hire 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively
  • Position requires prolonged standing and sitting
  • Must be able to lift minimum of 50 pounds
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times

Essential Functions

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Effectively communicate the mission, vision and values of the Wichita YMCA.
  2. Play a strong leadership role in the Strong Community Campaign.
  3. Foster positive relationships with staff, members and volunteers.
  4. Hire and train program directors and staff in areas of responsibility.
  5. Provide ongoing leadership, professional guidance and development to staff.
  6. Assist direct reports on the development of program/instructional staff.
  7. Support and guide branch staff in the development and management of department budgets.
  8. Ensure high-quality programs through innovative program development, audits and evaluation.
  9. Provide direction on overall participation growth in all departments.
  10. Guide and direct department staff on providing a safe and clean program environment/area.
  11. Communicate regularly and effectively with staff (department meetings, one-on-one monthly meetings with direct reports, etc.).
  12. Maintain complete familiarity of all risk management procedures and policies for department areas and the overall branch.
  13. Provide coverage and leadership for branch at a variety of times (evenings and weekends).
  14. All other duties assigned.

  2. High program and member retention rate.
  3. Positive written and oral comments from program participants and members regarding good membership and program experience and about the staff.
  4. Branch Net Promoter score of 60%.
  5. Well-managed staff that is high performing.
