Job Description

The Hampshire Regional YMCA is seeking a fitness professional to lead our Wellness department! This role oversees all of our personal training offerings, Wellness floor gym equipment and operations, and fitness programming like TRX, barbell, and more. Our Y operates a robust personal training program and a very busy Wellness floor. The ideal candidate has significant personal training and fitness experience with diverse populations. We serve everyone in the community regardless of age, income, or background, and we are looking for a department leader who can create a sense of belonging for all members and participants at our Y at varying stages of life and fitness.

Qualifications
  • Minimum education of a high school diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree in a health/fitness field is preferred.
  • At least 2 years’ experience managing and supervising others.
  • Personal Trainer certification from one of the following nationally recognized organizations required: ACSM, NASM, NSCA, ACE, IFPA, AFAA and YMCA.
  • Strong background in customer service and excellent interpersonal skills is required.
Essential Functions
  • Ensure that the Wellness floor culture is safe, positive, nurturing, and non-threatening for members and participants of all backgrounds.
  • Hire, supervise, schedule, evaluate, coach, and manage a staff of full-time and part-time personal trainers and Wellness Floor attendants.
  • Interact with members and participants daily, ensuring that rapport is built and operations are flowing smoothly.
  • Respond to member inquiries and complaints as needed.
  • Analyze fitness program needs in the community and build and execute Wellness programming throughout the year, as well as operating existing successful and needed programs.
  • Participate in HRYMCA leadership team duties including weekly meetings, strategic planning, signature fundraising events, and general oversight of the safety and operations of our building.
  • Oversee all equipment maintenance, inventory, and purchasing for the Wellness Floor.
  • Operate and staff programs and the Wellness Floor as needed.
