Health and Wellness Program Manager

Join the Clark Memorial YMCA team and help strengthen our community through health, wellness, and meaningful connection!
Job Description

As the YMCA’s primary wellness leader, the Health & Wellness Program Manager will guide fitness, wellness, and community health programming into a coordinated system that supports membership growth, long-term sustainability, and measurable community impact.

In this role, you will align wellness and fitness offerings, senior and special population programming, youth engagement, and community partnerships into a unified strategy. You will help position the Clark Memorial YMCA as a trusted community health hub that attracts participants, partners, and new opportunities for growth.

At the YMCA, you’ll be part of a mission-driven organization committed to strengthening community through healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility. This full-time position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact while enjoying a competitive salary and benefits package.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will bring a bachelor’s degree in health, exercise science, public health, or a related field (or equivalent experience), along with 3-5 years of experience in fitness, wellness, or community health programming.

We are looking for someone with strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills, as well as experience—or a strong interest—in working with community partners, schools, healthcare organizations, or social service agencies.

Preferred qualifications include YMCA or community recreation experience, grant-funded or reimbursable program experience, youth or senior program development, and group fitness or wellness certifications.

Essential Functions

Lead wellness and fitness operations by overseeing group exercise, wellness programming, staff scheduling, room use, and overall program quality while creating safe, inclusive, and engaging experiences for members.

Develop purposeful programs that support the YMCA’s strategic growth areas, including senior and chronic disease wellness, aquatic safety and therapy, youth fitness and leadership, and mental health and social wellness.

Build and strengthen community partnerships with healthcare providers, schools, social service organizations, and other local partners to expand reach, improve outcomes, and create referral pathways into YMCA programs.

Support program sustainability by collaborating with leadership and grant partners on fundable program design, outcome frameworks, data collection, and reporting that help grow and sustain wellness initiatives.

Optimize space, schedules, and staffing to align with YMCA priorities, increase use of studios and multipurpose spaces, and better serve seniors, youth, referrals, and special populations.

Champion YMCA culture and collaboration by serving as a visible ambassador for healthy living, promoting an inclusive environment, and working across departments to strengthen member engagement and program outcomes.
