The Vice President of Facilities (VP of Facilities) provides strategic, enterprise-wide leadership for all YMCA facilities, ensuring that buildings, grounds, and infrastructure support the organization’s mission, long-term sustainability, and member experience. This role oversees capital planning, facilities operations, risk management, and compliance across all branches and properties.
The VP of Facilities partners closely with the COO, Facility Committee, and cross-functional leaders to steward physical assets responsibly while advancing safety, accessibility, environmental sustainability, and operational excellence.
1. Bachelor’s degree in facilities management, engineering, business, public administration, or a related field.
2. 6+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience in facilities, operations, or capital project management.
3. Demonstrated experience leading large-scale capital projects and managing enterprise-level budgets.
4. Strong executive leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
5. Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and Boards.
1. Develop and implement a comprehensive, long-term facilities strategy aligned with the YMCA’s mission, strategic plan, and community needs.
2. Serve as a key advisor to the COO and Facility Committee on facilities-related risks, investments, and opportunities.
3. Prepare reports and presentations for Board and committee meetings (e.g., Facility and Finance).
4. Lead enterprise-wide capital planning, including renovations, expansions, and new construction projects.
5. Oversee lifecycle asset management to ensure long-term sustainability of YMCA properties.
6. Partner with VP of Finance and the Facility and Finance Committees on capital budgets, and major expenditures.
7. Provide executive oversight of facilities operations across all branches, including maintenance, custodial services, and grounds.
8. Establish standards, policies, and performance metrics to ensure consistency and quality across locations.
9. Ensure facilities support safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments for members, staff, and volunteers.
10. Ensure organizational compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, ADA, fire/life safety, and health department requirements.
11. Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and preventive risk management.
12. Lead and mentor facilities directors and senior managers.
13. Support professional development, succession planning, and performance management within the facilities function.
14. Oversee relationships with architects, engineers, contractors, and other external partners.
15. Lead environmental sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives.
16. Represent the YMCA in community, regulatory, and professional settings as appropriate.
17. Other duties assigned by supervisor.
