The Chronic Disease Program Director, under the direct supervision of the Branch Executive Director, is responsible for implementing innovative tactics to engage new and returning members and create sales opportunities outside of the Y facility. This position is expected to lead a high-performing and engaging chronic disease programs. The CDP Director will be responsible for implementing programming across our association. The incumbent is responsible for working alongside the membership team for developing and managing 4,500+ membership units. This position also has responsibility for a portion of the community phase of the branch’s Annual Giving Campaign.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences, Public Health, or related field as well as commensurate work experience in fitness/wellness in sales, public relations, and marketing.
  • Previous management experience in recruitment, training and supervision of staff and volunteer groups.
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, occasionally evening and weekend hours.
  • Provide backup coverage to fitness classes and programs in the absence of instructors to minimize member/participant disruptions.
  • Excellent problem solving, organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and excellent customer service skills.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work creatively and independently or as part of a team.
  • Sound judgment and decision making as well as problem solving and interpersonal skills to relate to people of all socio-economic levels and diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to travel locally to meetings.
Essential Functions

MISSION DRIVEN: Upholds the Mission of the YMCA, and demonstrates behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature.

SUPERVISION: Leads, coaches and mentors a high-performing and engaging Wellness Department including Healthy Living Coaches and Group Fitness Instructors. Ensures staff achieve metric targets and produce meaningful qualitative results. Provides leadership in the daily operations of the branch. Communicates across departments to inspire member focused culture that results in increased member retention.

 


FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY:

Develops and manages the Chronic Disease Programs operating budgets as well as collaborate with Membership to meet or exceed budget targets.
Complete any and all reimbursement documentation or billing processes for various AAA programs.

VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT & ANNUAL CAMPAIGN:

  • Responsible for a portion of the community phase of the Annual Giving Campaign by serving as a liaison for the Campaign Chair and the Annual Campaign Leadership Committee.
  • Help develop and implement ongoing volunteer & donor cultivation and stewardship practices
    Actively participates in the recruitment of volunteers

ENGAGEMENT & RETENTION:

  • Develops and maintains relationships with public health, physicians, and payer communities as well as other referral networks to enhance awareness of and to insure referrals to the chronic disease programs.
  • Collect, compile, and report all necessary data and information to relevant agencies and constituents including but not limited to, Y-USA and funders.
  • Serve as a liaison, ambassador, and advocate for the programs within the public health forum.
  • Drives development of innovative and high-quality programs within the Chronic Disease programs and Membership Department, which supports branch and association mission, goals and strategies.
  • Creates a member-focused culture and models’ relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction. Set the standards for and model exceptional member service.
  • Respond to inquiries from the general public and members of the public health, physician and payer communities about the programs in a timely manner.
  • Works in conjunction with the Director of Marketing and Communications for coordinating and managing member communications – monthly e-blasts, website, social media, in-branch communications, member inquiries, etc. In this capacity, the Chronic Disease Program Director collaborates with the leadership team, front line staff, and association office marketing & communications teams.
  • Responsible for leading Member Survey Action Team & achieving high member satisfaction rates.
  • Develops and cultivates strong relationships throughout the branch, association and community.

Internal Responsibilities:

  • Hire, supervise, train, evaluate and support all CDP staff.
  • Ensure program delivery, consistency, and fidelity of CDP at all locations
  • Recruit, screen, and enroll eligible participants into the program
  • Organize and maintain a master schedule of classes offered across the association.
  • Assist CDP staff with launching of each program group and the evaluation of each group.
  • Assist with retention and commitment of program participants
  • Regularly analyze data from programs to ensure they meet applicable quality and performance metrics.
