POSITION SUMMARY

Provide support in managing accounting functions including bank and balance sheet account reconciliations. Monitor compliance with the Association’s financial policies and procedures. Understand and implements GAAP in a variety of business situations. Ensure preparation of journal entries for complete and accurate monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in accounting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent computer skills to include knowledge of Accounting and Financial systems including Microsoft Office products, especially in Excel.  
  • Be able to work independently; have solid attention to detail and accuracy; have superior analytical and problem-solving skills; have excellent organizational, time management, and decision-making skills; and have the flexibility to change priorities as required. Must meet absolute deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including positive interaction with staff and community leaders.
  • Ability to maintain proper discretion working with confidential information.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
  • Satisfactory credit background check is required.
Essential Functions
  • Perform bank reconciliations, balance sheet account reconciliations, as well as other accounting reconciliations as assigned and maintain proper documentation.
  • Accounts Payable Support as necessary
  • Support the month-end and year-end financial closing processes including but not limited to: initiating and entering journal entries; uploading selected entries; driving the team through the closing process using checklists.
  • Support annual insurance renewal and allocation workbook. Monitor and manage prepaid insurance account and recurring allocations of insurance costs. Coordinates with insurance carriers for any needed Certificates of Insurance.
  • Support the annual audit and filing of the annual 990 federal tax return by completing schedules and reconciliations.
  • Assist in documenting and maintaining accounting processes and procedures.
  • Monitor and update account receivable schedules.
  • Provide support in the creation of the financial packet, following processes for accuracy and implementing new ideas to further the efficiency of creation.
  • Support the accounting team with budgeting and forecasting process
  • Assist in various reports, including but not limited to Investment Quarterly Reports and Bond Compliance Reporting.
  • Other project or duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager including assisting with ad-hoc reporting, Y-USA annual reporting, and annual filings with state or local government agencies.

Availability: Monday-Friday hybrid schedule - must be able to be present in office for three days a week after training is complete.

The hiring range for this position is $26.27-$29.35 per hour.

The full range of the pay grade for this position is $26.27 - $38.48 per hour.
