POSITION SUMMARY: 
Under the direct supervision of the Preschool and Family Services Director, the OST Group Leader & Teen Coordinator assists with the development, organization and implementation of high-quality YMCA after school (K-8) and teen programs.  The hours for this position will be 12 pm -8 pm or 1 pm -9 pm depending on day and needs of the programs.  This role transitions during the summer into a leadership role in Pikati Day Camp, which will also require administrative responsibilities for OST registrations.

Qualifications
  1. Working towards or have achieved Bachelor's degree preferred in related field or equivalent experience.
  2. One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of childcare/teen programs. 
  3. Minimum age requirement of 21. 
  4. Previous curriculum development experience preferred. 
  5. Committing to support and further our anti-racist work as an organization.  Learning about our initiatives and the continuous work and being able to vocalize with members if needed.  
  6. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. 
  7. Experience with working with teens in a community center environment preferred. 
  8. Strong administrative background/experience preferred. 
  9. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (excel, PowerPoint). 
  10. Ability to learn new systems utilized for program (SGA). 
  11. Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: CPR and First Aid. 
  12. Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards, EEC requirements and completion of YMCA program specific certifications. 
  13. Obtain 7-D license within 30 days of hire.  (Must have clean driving record.) 
  14. Proactive, reliable, and consistent.
Essential Functions
  1. Assists the OST Director in the management, direction, and coordination of the school age/teen programs. Ensures high quality program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  2. Ensure the health, safety and well-being of youth and teens in the program, by providing close supervision of all activities. Is always engaged with children when children are in your care.  Follows all safety protocols. 
  3. Active support of our DEIB statement and putting into practice our commitment to equity, diversity, belonging and inclusion.  Continue to think about strategies to support diversity goals of the organization.  
  4. Support the Youth & Family Director with the creation and submission of weekly and quarterly reports when needed.  
  5. Understand, promote, model, and communicate the YMCA’s core values of respect, responsibility, caring and honesty at all times. 
  6. Assists the OST Director in recruiting, hiring, training, developing and scheduling staff and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. 
  7. Assures compliance with state (Early Education & Care for OST) and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed. 
  8. Assists the OST Director with the development and implementation of age-appropriate activities and themes for the teen center.  (Some examples; Youth in Government, Debate Club, Photography Club, Drame Club, etc.)  
  9. Assists the OST Director with all administrative duties associated with all Out of School Time and Teen programming.  Takes a lead in the administrative responsibilities of processing OST registrations during the summer months.  Helps to maintain EEC files. 
  10. Assists the OST Director in outreach to local schools in the community to build program growth.  Could be asked to attend community fairs to recruit potential program participants, build relationships with school counselors, teachers and other school counsel committees- PTO, etc. 
  11. Daily coverage in OST, help with coordination with bus/van transportation and pickup as needed. 
  12. Manage and run the Teen Center programming and assist with staffing.  Specifically, create activities and schedule evening hours for teens to utilize the Recreation Center. (Some examples; Youth in Government, Debate Club, Photography Club, Drama Club, etc.)  
  13. Assists OST Director in coordinating and organizing monthly “Parents Night Out” Events and activities with the Membership Department. 
  14. Assists OST Director with other events that are scheduled that enhances the quality of our offerings. 
  15. Works closely with OST Director and Preschool and Family Services Director on constant awareness with staff, child and parents of the importance of Child Sexual Abuse Prevention. 
  16. Provide day-to-day guidance and support to Youth Group Leaders and junior staff, modeling best practices in youth engagement, behavior management, and safety procedures. 
  17. Often in direct service and will lead programming when other staff are absent or need support. 
  18. Serve as a liaison between frontline youth staff and the Preschool & Family Services Director and OST Director.
  19. Coordinate materials and supplies for activities, assisting in inventory tracking. 
  20. Help ensure program spaces are organized, clean, and set up for success each day. 
  21. Assist with attendance tracking, snack distribution, and daily sign-in/out processes. 
  22. Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living. 
  23. Helps to maintain proper records/department files/program binder according to EEC regulations for OST. 
  24. Assists in organizing special events for parents. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities. 
  25. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information. 
  26. Coordinate and participate in special events and activities related to membership growth and/or retention to enhance the member experience and volunteer opportunities. 
  27. Van driver for school pick-up when needed.  (Obtain 7D Driver certificate within 30 days of hire.) 
  28. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Certifications

CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.

7D license within 30 days of hire.
