Under the direction of the Program Director, the Childcare Coordinator assists with the planning, marketing, managing, and implementation of all childcare activities including but not limited to Afterschool Program, Summer Camp, Nursery, and Kid’s Zone. This will include the success, growth, and new program development.
· Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
· At least 1-3 years’ experience with school age children as well as 1-3 years’ experience in supervising staff.
· Minimum age of 21.
· Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: CPR; First Aid; AED
· Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
· Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
· Ability to maintain positive relationships with parents, school personnel, co-workers, subordinate staff, and volunteers.
1. Recruit, train, organize, develop and manage all site directors, counselors, substitute staff, and volunteers.
2. Assists and assumes a leadership role in implementing programs and schedules.
3. Ensures the reliability and safety of all program sites.
4. Maintains all records of enrolled children in each program.
5. Maintains consistent, continuing, and accurate communication with Program Director and member services staff concerning program issues, supplies, schedule changes, staffing, participant concerns and other pertinent information.
6. Maintains effective and timely communication with staff and parents regarding program news, changes and other necessary information.
7. Coordinate/supervise staff meetings and training sessions.
8. Work with school personnel to promote the afterschool programs throughout the year.
9. Works effectively with community organizations to collaborate in the delivery of YMCA programs.
10. Assists with developing and submitting periodic program promotional material for marketing efforts to include: newspaper articles, promotional brochures, flyers and PSA’s.
11. Develops, manages, and controls budgets related to the position with the guidance of the Program Director. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
12. Any other duties assigned.
