Job Description

The YMCA of Greater Louisville is seeking a passionate and experienced Association Director of Fitness & Community Health to provide vision and leadership for fitness and wellness initiatives across our association. This position will ensure high-quality, evidence-based programs that engage members, improve health outcomes, and strengthen partnerships with healthcare and community organizations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Health/Physical Education or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in fitness, wellness, or community health.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based health programs and industry best practices.
  • Proven success in staff leadership, program development, and community partnership building.
  • Personal training or group exercise certification preferred.
Essential Functions
  • Lead strategy and innovation for association-wide fitness and wellness programs.
  • Support branch teams in delivering consistent, high-quality member and community experiences.
  • Grow and oversee signature YMCA health initiatives such as Diabetes Prevention, Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring, and LIVESTRONG®.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with healthcare systems, schools, and community health organizations.
  • Manage budgets, pursue funding opportunities, and ensure operational excellence.
  • Train, mentor, and develop branch fitness and wellness staff.
  • Lead fitness strategy, program design, and operational standards across the 10 membership branches of the YMCA of Greater Louisville.
  • Facilitate strong connections between membership and wellness by streamlining processes, creating a seamless experience for participants and enhancing program engagement.
  • Grow and oversee revenue-generating wellness programs, including personal training, small group training, wellness coaching, and specialty health programs. Develop and implement strategies for recruiting, training, and developing trainers, tracking key performance indicators, and increasing member awareness and engagement to ensure program growth, financial sustainability, and overall impact.
  • Evaluate and analyze Group Fitness offerings to ensure program quality, innovation, membership satisfaction and increase participation.
  • Expand and oversee evidence-based programs that promote Chronic Disease Prevention and Management.
  • Track and report performance metrics, making data-driven decisions for program improvement.
  • Assist the Association Healthy Living Executive Liaison with the annual fitness equipment order to ensure the YMCA offers cutting-edge equipment.
