POSITION SUMMARY:

This position, under the direction of the Branch Executive Director is responsible for delivering on all metrics associated with the contract between the YMCA and San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) Extended Learning Program (EXL).  The YMCA provides staffing to deliver ASES before and after school programs at 34 sites that serve over 8,000 students daily.

The Associate Executive Director (AED) ensures appropriate staff levels, is seen as a trusted partner by the EXL leadership team and pursues opportunities to engage EXL students in traditional YMCA programs. The AED partners with the executive director to support branch programs and is a key leader for annual campaign.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent, master’s degree preferred
At least 3 years’ experience leading youth programs, with strong preference to experience in before/after school programs
At least 3 years' experience supervising professional level staff and oversite of large frontline staff teams
Requirements within 30 days of hire - completion of CPR, First Aid, AED, Safety Orientation.
Proof of Current Immunizations: TB, Influenza (limited exceptions), pertussis, and measles vaccination.
Program Director level Child Development permit and/or Site Director Permit (current) and YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Essential Functions

Responsible for ensuring staff levels meet or exceed 90% of the contracted hours through strong recruitment and retention strategies for a staff team of 500+.
Leads management team of 11, including three direct reports. Responsible for hiring, supervising and coaching team to ensure sites are fully staffed and district program goals are met/exceeded. 
Develops professional relationships and is seen as a trusted partner by SBCUSD and EXL leadership staff. Considered a subject matter expert able to deliver ELOP, ASES and enrichment programs in a school environment.
Works closely with Branch Human Resources Business Partner to develop and execute strategies to recruit, hire and manage large part-time staff team. Brings employee relations issues to Business Partners attention in a timely manner to ensure they are addressed professionally.
Develops, manages, monitors and adjusts as needed, $16 million department budget, with a focus on maximizing billable hours.
Develops, implements and manages tools to track absenteeism, sick time, time off requests, etc. Tracks trends to ensure adequate sub pool and recruitment efforts support maximizing billable hours.
Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
Partners with executive director to develop the annual operating plan in line with association Strategic Direction - 2025 and Beyond.
Seen as a key leader on branch management team. Supports other departments and program directors as needed. Brings additional resources to the branch through program opportunities that arise from SBCUSD partnership.
Plays a key role in the branch marketing and communications efforts with a goal of increasing membership and program participation through SBCUSD partnership.
Provides leadership to annual fundraising campaign and assists in recruiting key leadership and campaigners for assigned divisions. Ensures staff achieve their goals in line with Association timeline.
Follows the YMCA personnel policies, practices, emergency procedures and risk management procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
