Job Description
Under the general direction of the Executive Director of SACC (School Aged Child Care) and Camp, the Program Director is responsible for planning, managing and supervising a high-quality School Age Childcare program at multiple off sites locations, while establishing positive relationships with the schools and the local community. The Program Director will also oversee summer camp operations.

Qualifications
- BA/BS in Education or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience managing SACC or Youth programs.
- Prior staff supervision and curriculum implementation experience required.
- Supervisory and leadership skills with a proven ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism and care.
- Preferred knowledge of New Jersey Childcare Licensing Standards to ensure compliance with state regulations and best practices.
Essential Functions
- Manage, direct and coordinate a developmentally, socially and academically appropriate curriculum for all assigned SACC sites.
- Assist in creating and monitoring the annual budget for the department. Ensure that the department maintains a positive fiscal position.
- Recruit, hire, train, develop, supervise and evaluate the SACC team. This includes ensuring that SACC staff follow all policies, procedures and timeframes of the organization.
- Oversee the development and evaluation of the SACC Program.
- Process accurate payrolls for all assigned staff.
- Monitors and responds promptly and appropriately to member’s feedback.
- Ensures that YMCA program standards are met, and safety procedures are followed in accordance with the NJ Office of Licensing.
- Ensure that all SACC sites are properly staffed and provide coverage as needed, to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Cultivate and maintain excellent working relationships with applicable school districts, administrators and communities.
- Recommend and implement improvement plans as needed ensuring high-quality member-focused programs through innovative program development and ongoing staff development.
Perform additional duties as required to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of YMCA of Montclair programs.
- Oversee the management of sites and site supervisors, ensuring compliance with risk management guidelines in alignment with program goals.
- Recruit, hire, train, develop, and schedule staff and volunteers for childcare, School Age Care (SACC), and
- Summer Day Camp programs; conduct performance reviews and regular staff meetings/trainings.
- Develop and manage the operating plan to promote program growth and increase participation, particularly within local school districts or at offsite locations, while maintaining a safe, educational, and nurturing environment.
- Special projects as requested and needed including SACC family events.
Ensure that all staff are trained to deal with emergency procedures.
Maintain positive working relationship with school personnel in coordination of the building site and related issues.
Summer camp responsibilities include but are not limited to leading, developing and managing all operations of the assigned camp.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Attend required Abuse Risk Management training and adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising members and participants.
- Follow employee and volunteer screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk.
- Provide employees and volunteers with on-going supervision and training related to abuse risk.
- Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with consumers and require them to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.
- Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the Y’s disciplinary procedures and respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and follow mandated reporting requirements.
- Communicates to all employees and volunteers the Y’s commitment to protect our members from abuse.
