The Senior Vice President of Information Technology (SVP, IT) is a strategic and operational leader responsible for advancing the YMCA of Greater Charlotte’s technology capabilities in support of its Christian mission to create meaningful connections, improve health and wellbeing, and transform lives. As a key member of the senior leadership team, this role provides visionary leadership and hands-on management of the YMCA’s IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, digital innovation, data strategy, helpdesk operations, and end-user training. The SVP IT ensures that technology is a mission-aligned enabler of operational excellence, accessibility, and community impact.
Required Qualifications
• Ten or more years of progressive IT leadership experience, with at least 5-7 years managing IT teams in complex, multi-site organizations.
• Proven track record leading large-scale system implementations and technology transformations.
• Strong experience with enterprise platforms, notably Salesforce and Microsoft 365.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex vendor relationships and large budgets.
• Experience validating technology solutions through direct engagement with end users and operational staff.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with ability to influence at all organizational levels.
All YMCA team members are expected to maintain a current and active status for all safety, risk, and programming certifications defined by the YMCA of Greater Charlotte.
Preferred Qualifications
• YMCA or multi-site nonprofit experience with understanding of membership-program-fundraising integration.
• Experience with YMCA-specific systems (TractionRec, UltraCamp, Alaris).
• Background in completing stalled or troubled system implementations.
• Knowledge of specialized program systems (childcare check-in, camp management, sports leagues).
Strategic Technology Leadership
• Develop and execute a long-range IT strategy aligned with the YMCA’s strategic plan and priorities.
• Partner with executive leaders and the Board to evaluate technology trends, risks, and investment opportunities.
• Lead digital transformation initiatives to modernize systems, improve member and staff experiences, and drive innovation in service delivery.
• Develop and manage IT budget in partnership with finance leadership.
IT Operations, Infrastructure & Support
• Develop and manage IT budget in partnership with finance leadership.
• Oversee all IT operations, including infrastructure, networks, cloud services, cybersecurity, business continuity, and disaster recovery.
• Lead a high-performing IT helpdesk team, ensuring timely, empathetic, and effective support for all staff and locations.
• Direct the procurement, deployment, and lifecycle management of all hardware and software, including computers, servers, POS systems, mobile devices, and applications.
• Establish and enforce IT asset management and licensing compliance practices.
Enterprise Systems & Integration
• Manage the integration and optimization of enterprise systems, including CRM, HRIS, ERP, and program management tools.
• Ensure systems are user-friendly, interoperable, and aligned with business and mission needs.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
• Develop and maintain robust cybersecurity policies, protocols, and employee awareness programs.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices in data privacy, security, and IT governance.
Staff Enablement & Training
• Build and execute training programs to ensure staff are proficient in using new and existing technologies.
• Partner with department leaders to identify training needs and deliver engaging, accessible learning experiences.
• Promote digital literacy and reduce barriers to technology adoption among team members across the organization.
Leadership & Team Development
• Recruit, mentor, and lead a purpose-driven IT team that reflects the YMCA’s Christian Principles.
• Foster a collaborative and service-oriented culture within the IT function.
• Manage vendor relationships, technology budgets, and capital investments with transparency and strategic foresight.
