The Youth and Sports Director shall be responsible for the development of all program areas assigned. The development of programs shall be inclusive of all functions above, as further defined below.
The Youth and Sports Director shall assess community and participant needs and define objectives, which meet those needs within the general confines and goals of the Association.
The Youth and Sports Director shall prepare a complete plan of action for each program. Said plan of action shall include the program objectives, details of implementation such as staffing, budget, etc. and provision for evaluation.
The Youth and Sports Director shall provide for the proper staffing of each activity through direct leadership and/or assignment of part-time staff or volunteers. He/she shall recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate all staff and/or volunteers related to his/her specific program areas.
The Youth and Sports Director shall be responsible for the fiscal management of all assigned programs in accordance with the annual budget. He/she shall prepare a budget for each program or program area. He/she shall establish program fees in accordance with the general guidelines of the Program Committee and Budget.
The Youth and Sports Director shall be responsible for the evaluation of each program, using as standards, its program, statistical and fiscal objectives. He/she shall present the results of his/her evaluations to the Senior Program Director along with his/her recommendations for the continuation, improvement, or discontinuance of said programs.
The Youth and Sports Director should have a college degree in physical education, recreation, social service administration, and/or other related fields or will be working toward such degree. They should also meet minimum standards for classification as staff associate according to the National YMCA Personnel Classification System. Knowledge, experience, and/or skills in all facets of youth programming are preferred.
A. Specific Program Areas
Specific program areas shall include the development of new sports and family programs and expansion of current programs consistent with appropriate need assessment and evaluation results. Such programs shall include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Plan, manage, and execute all youth and adult sports at the Robinson Branch.
2. Plan, manage, and execute all youth and family programming at the Robinson Branch, including SNL, homeschool gym, and special events.
3. Plan and manage the summer sports camps at both the Robinson and Piqua Branches.
4. Plan and manage the Summer Day Camp Program.
5. Develop new programs that meet the goals and mission of the association.
6. Assist with youth and sports programs at the Piqua Branch as needed.
7. Assist program staff with any marketing needs.
8. Perform any other duties as needed by the association.
9. Schedule room rentals for birthday parties, baby showers, etc.
10. Assist with scheduling of staff for Child Watch.
B. Administration
1. The Youth and Sports Director shall attend all meetings related to specific assigned program areas.
2. The Youth and Sports Director shall prepare all reports, accurately and in a timely manner, as requested.
3. The Youth and Sports Director shall assume responsibility for supervision of the facility and activities therein during scheduled building coverage and other times as assigned or whenever other Professional Staff members are not present.
The Youth and Sports Director shall conduct himself/herself in a professional manner, shall present a professional appearance, and shall adhere to all established policies, operating procedures and operating budget. The Youth and Family Director should also be knowledgeable in areas of program development, supervisory management, and fiscal management.
CPR/First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention training must be completed in the first 90 days. Candidate must have the ability to drive YMCA vehicles and obtian a Class B Commerical Driver's License.
