The Senior Aquatic Director will lead the development of and implementation of high-quality aquatic programs for the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth. The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated track record of delivering high quality programs combined with the ability to manage the administrative components of programming. Strong organizational and time management skills are necessary to ensure that the participants and families have an exceptional experience at the Y. Responsibilities include supervision and training of the program staff along with new and innovative ideas to grow and expand existing programming.

We are currently seeking a Senior Aquatic Director to lead aquatic operations across the Ryan Family YMCA, William McDonald YMCA, and Eastside YMCA. This individual will play a key role in ensuring that our pools are safe, engaging, and inclusive environments for all. It is a requirement that the selected candidate live in the community that the branches serve.

Qualifications

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience (or currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Program).
  • Four or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA of other nonprofit agency.
  • YMCA Lifeguard and or Swim Instructor Certification.
  • LGI a plus.
  • YMCA Team Leader Certification preferred.

  • High energy, positive, "can-do" attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail and a high degree of initiative will help this candidate be successful.
  • The ability to direct programs through leading both staff and volunteers, developing and monitoring budgets, developing and marketing programs.
  • This leader will also need the ability to connect and relate with diverse groups of people at all levels of the organization.
Essential Functions
  • Program Leadership & Growth - Oversees the development and execution of high-quality, mission-driven aquatics programs across three branches (one indoor pool and three outdoor seasonal pools). Drives innovation, participant engagement, and continuous program improvement.
  • Staff Development & Supervision - Leads recruitment, onboarding, training, and supervision of aquatics staff and volunteers. Aquatics Team includes Swim Instructors, Slide Attendants, Lifeguards, and Seasonal Aquatic Coordinators. Ensures compliance with certifications, dress code, and YMCA standards through regular coaching, in-services, and performance reviews.
  • Safety, Compliance & Risk Management - Maintains full compliance with state/local health codes and YMCA safety protocols. Ensures certifications, inspections, and incident reporting are current and properly documented.
  • Budget & Operations Management - Develops and manages annual budgets for staffing, supplies, and program needs. Oversees payroll, staff scheduling, and rental invoicing while ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Member & Community Engagement - Responds to member feedback and communication promptly. Builds strong relationships with participants, families, volunteers, and community partners to support program success.
  • Fundraising & Branch Collaboration - Leads Annual Campaign efforts within the aquatics team. Collaborates with branch leadership, attends events, and supports board engagement and community outreach initiatives.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth offers a competitive salary and benefits package for selected candidates.

The yearly salary range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000 and will be commensurate with the selected candidate's experience.
