Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Health & Wellness Director is responsible for the entire Health & Wellness department including Group Exercise, Specialty Fitness Classes, Personal Training, Chronic Disease Prevention, Youth Fitness Programs and the overall management of the Wellness Center. In cooperation with the other YMCA staff, and consistent with the mission of the YMCA, the Health and Wellness Director is committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Oversees a diverse and well-qualified health and wellness staff. Develops, organizes and implements high quality health and wellness programs. Recommends leading edge equipment and oversees maintenance of all equipment. Ensures the quality and safety of the health and wellness offerings. The Health and Wellness Director exemplifies and trains staff in establishing a relationship-based community in which members feel welcomed, connected, valued and safe.
1. Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or related field
2. Nationally recognized Personal Trainer certificate
3. Minimum of four (4) years experience in the fitness industry with at least two years in a supervisor capacity.
4. Must have proven success in fiscal management, fundraising, staff development, and community collaboration
5. Training, certifications or experience with group exercise (Mossa Prefered), program development, YMCA fitness programs or YMCA specialist training or equipment.
6. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
7. Proven experience working with youth, teens, adults and volunteers
8. Current national certifications such as ACE, ASCM, AFFA, NASM or NETA preferred, as well as CPR and First Aid certifications.
9. Excellent interpersonal, Strong leadership, organizational verbal and written communication skills required.
10. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
