NATURE AND SCOPE:
The Aquatics Director intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing and determined while also managing high-quality, member-focused Aquatics programs
RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Hire, schedule, train, and develop lifeguard staff
Monitor daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations, and conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools
Maintain accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance
Conduct Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR trainings and monthly in-services with lifeguards
Ensure records of staff certifications are current and complete
Model relationship-building skills in all interactions
Maintain regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility
Manage online pool schedule/reservation system
Complete staff bi-weekly payroll and manage budget
Train and support lifeguards on Workplace Safety Guidelines
Support changed member traffic flow into the pool
Prepare lifeguards with daily reservation rosters
Serve as a building Director on Duty (DOD)
DOD will ensure members and branch staff are following safety protocol, pre-check guidelines, etc.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, physical education, exercise psychology, behavioral science, or a health-related field and 2+ years in aquatics OR 4+ years in aquatics
1+ years of supervisory responsibilities
YMCA Lifeguard Certification
Certified Pool Operator
Available for a 6–7-hour shift (shifts can vary from 5 a.m. - 10 p.m. M-F and 5 a.m. - 6 p.m. S-S) serving as a DOD with 2-3 hours each day dedicated to completing departmental administrative duties
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree
5+ years of aquatics experience
2+ years of program or people leadership experience
