Job Description
The Child Care Director is responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and oversight of all child care programs including day camp and food service at the YMCA. This role ensures program excellence, staff leadership, and alignment with the YMCA’s mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or 3 years of experience preferred.
- Experience in supervision, budgeting & program design/management preferred.
- Grant Writing experience a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required. Ability to communicate and relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Ability to exercise discriminating and independent judgment.
- Proficient computer skills with experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office, program software, and social media preferred.
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
- Completion of all required training within 90 days of hire.
Essential Functions
- Attendance and Schedule: This position requires on-site presence and a flexible schedule to accommodate program hours and participation in weekend special events as needed.
- Budget and Resources: Manage program budgets and fee collection to ensure fiscal goals are met.
- Collaboration: Work as part of the Program Operations Team to set goals, develop strategies, and innovate programs.
- Compliance: Ensure all staff and volunteers complete the necessary screening processes.
- Community Engagement: Foster relationships with local community groups, participate in community events to raise program awareness, and support YMCA fundraising efforts.
- Daily Operations: Directs the daily operations of child care services, before and after-school, school days out, and summer care).
- Facility Coordination: Oversee the scheduling and use of facilities for various activities and events.
- Financial Administration: Process invoices, check requests credit card reconciliation, and expense reports promptly.
- Grant Compliance: Ensure all grant requirements are met, auditing grants during the grant cycle, accuracy in grant reporting and meeting grant report submission deadlines.
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of equipment, conduct inspections, and manage supplies within budget constraints.
- Safety Enforcement: Ensure the safety of children and adults, and assist in maintaining facility cleanliness and safety.
- Staff Management: Recruit, mentor, and manage staff and volunteers, including scheduling and performance evaluations. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve organizational goals.

Required Certifications
Bachelor's Degree
