The Opportunity
The YMCA of Plainview, Texas is entering its most transformative chapter since opening to the community in 1948. Drive the future of an organization that is already the beating heart of its region. The YMCA of Plainview finished a $787,000 facility renewal and now stands debt free with healthy reserves and an energized board ready for bold ideas. Its 60,000-square-foot center houses the only indoor pool for forty miles and a full suite of wellness spaces, while the city’s Aquatic Center partnership positions the Y as the primary water-safety authority for thousands of families. More than two thousand area youth count on its leagues and camp programs every year, powered by a remarkably committed corps of five hundred fifty volunteers. The foundations for impact, trust, facilities, financial strength, and community goodwill, are firmly in place.
As Chief Executive Officer you will have the platform, resources, and space to craft the next five-year vision. The board seeks a leader who can knit together civic, business, agricultural, and university partners to widen the Y’s reach across West Texas, modernize the indoor aquatics complex, double philanthropic support, and launch innovative health and youth-development initiatives for communities that have no comparable provider. You will guide a lean, motivated staff, steward a balanced budget that supports growth, and champion the highest standards of child-safety and inclusion.
Plainview itself is an advantage. Located on the I-27 corridor between Lubbock and Amarillo, the city combines a cost of living far below national norms with new retail growth, a major Walmart distribution hub, and the cultural assets of Wayland Baptist University. Commutes are short, collaboration is personal, and wide-open Texas skies provide room to breathe and dream.
If you are a mission-driven strategist who wants to see measurable change in the health, confidence, and resilience of an entire county, this is your opportunity to leave a legacy. Lead a fiscally sound, community-anchored YMCA into its next era and redefine what a rural association can accomplish.
Our Mission
To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
Our Cause
Strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
Position Description
Reporting to an eleven-member Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer will serve as strategist, ambassador, and culture-bearer for the YMCA of Plainview. Beginning with the modernization of the indoor aquatics complex. Charged with stewarding a $1.1 million operating budget and a lean, dedicated staff, the CEO will model the YMCA’s highest standards of child-abuse prevention and aquatic safety, strengthen an extensive volunteer network, and deepen partnerships. Equally critical will be the CEO’s ability to mobilize philanthropic support, expanding the annual campaign and securing resources for capital priorities. The successful candidate will translate strategic vision into measurable community benefit, ensuring that every resident has access to programs that nurture spirit, mind, and body.
