Aquatics Director

The Glacial Community YMCA is seeking a professional leader for our Aquatics Director position at the Pabst Farms branch in Oconomowoc, WI.
Job Description

Responsibilities include managing staff and day-to-day operations of the aquatics department and serving as a strategic leadership team member providing successful services and programs that add value to Y membership for Association branch locations.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years’ administrative leadership & staff management experience required.
Essential Functions
  • Ensure safe operation of aquatic programs and activities, adhering to Association policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Hire, train, evaluate and supervise staff and volunteers in accordance with Association Human Resource procedures and policies.  Provide direction and leadership to all aquatic department staff including leadership support roles.  
  • Direct and supervise program activities and membership services to meet the needs of the community and contribute to member retention.
  • Provide leadership in strategy building that will enhance and grow programs and services, for assigned areas.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor program budgets in accordance with Association Finance Department procedures and policies.
  • Direct and lead safety training, in-services, and training drills.  Ensure all aquatic staff maintain current certifications required according to position(s) assigned.
  • Provide guided assistance to like program areas throughout Association branch locations, as needed.
  • Ensure sufficient staff-to-participant ratios for assigned programs and services, personally covering shifts if necessary.
  • Maintain required compliance records specific to aquatics department facilities, programs and activities.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations, as assigned.
  • Promptly respond to all emergency situations by adhering to the current emergency procedure guidelines and participate in ‘Manager on Duty’ schedule.

Required Certifications
  • Certifications that must be obtained and maintained: Certified Pool Operator, Lifeguard Instructor (LGI), Water Safety Instructor (WSI).
  • Willingness to attend meetings, training, and obtain additional certification as requested.
