Are you a Cause-Driven Leader with a passion for youth development? The YMCA of NWNC is looking for a hands-on Executive Director of Youth Development.  This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.  The position will supervise 3 Sr. Program Directors, and 9 full-time Program Directors. Other responsibilities will be helping to develop/lead departmental goals, Annual Impact Fund, Board Development, Program Quality, and Relationship building. 

The Executive Director must exemplify the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith in all aspects of job performance, and in building and maintaining relationships with school personnel, program participants, volunteers and staff. Ideal candidates will have proven success in supervising full-time staff, increasing enrollment, cross promotion of programs, time management skills, and strengthening program quality.. 

This position also has direct fundraising responsibilities with the Annual Impact Fund and will be expected to solicit donations from staff and the community to meet their individual department goals (set by the Vice President of Youth Development). 

Schedule: Must be available Monday-Friday. Hours may vary according to the needs of the programs. Must be able to work weekends, evenings, holidays and inclement weather days and/or extended hours as necessary.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, recreation, business, or five or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other not-for-profit agency. 
  • Ability to direct programs by supervising volunteers and staff, developing and monitoring budgets, marketing, public relations, program development, and fund-raising. 
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations, especially school system personnel and administration.
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred. 
  • CPR and First Aid certification required within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Essential Functions
  • Responsible for quality, growth, and evaluation of all educational youth programs including before and after school, summer day camps, half day preschool, Summer Learning Academy, 21st Century grant programs, Youth and Government, Teen Mental Health, and teen programs.  These programs are spread out across 7 counties in our service area (Stokes, Forsyth, Davie, Yadkin, Wilkes, Statesville/Iredell, and Alexander County)
  • Directs strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan
  • Serves as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA
  • Oversees all aspects of Youth Development, both membership and program related and works very closely with School System Superintendents and key personnel
  • Expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Compiles program statistics for analysis and reporting
  • Monitors and evaluates usage and participation in the program, and compiles all of this data to be used for writing and reporting grants, YMCA Annual report, and 990 information.
  • Works closely with Association Grant writers to assist with writing, monitoring and securing grants for programs (i.e 21st Century, GIDE at the YMCA, Summer Learning Academies, CACFP programs, etc.)
  • Maintains a safe and orderly environment in all areas of the facilities by conducting facility patrols to identify maintenance concerns, facility cleanliness, safety, and security.
  • Implements, in collaboration with other programs and departments, Child Abuse Prevention and safety training consistently throughout all program areas.
  • Identifies strategic collaborative partnerships that congruently align with the YMCA's strategic priorities.
  • Works with branch Executive Directors to ensure Youth Development programs meet the needs of the branch and members; provides input and recommendations related to fixtures, furnishings, and supplies needed to ensure that facilities and programs are safe and age-appropriate.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met, and safety procedures are followed.
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints promptly.
  • Ensures all staff are trained and onboarded properly and is aware of all expectations
  • Develops systems/measurements that gauge program impact, satisfaction, quality trends, financial stability, and growth potential.
  • Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
  • Develops and manages a yearly budget of all related departments to meet fiscal objectives. 
  • Recruits, trains, and develops staff and volunteers 
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information for before and after school, summer day camp, preschool, and college and career programs.
  • Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with the Association and branch strategic plans. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
