Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high-quality YMCA childcare program(s). Pay commensurate with experience. 

Qualifications
  • Strong public relation skills.
  • The ability to work well with children, parents, and volunteers.
  • The ability to supervise, motivate and direct staff.
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in the approved curriculum from an accredited college or university plus four years or more of experience in the classroom and three years or more of experience supervising others.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Must complete all Standard Childcare Requirements:
  • To pass an annual physical examination.
  • Bi-annual Mantoux Tine Test.
  • Act 33/34 Clearances.
  • Six clock hours of DPW-Approved Child Care Training annually.
  • Annual training in first aid, water safety and fire safety.
  • Hold current and valid CPR Pro (CPR for health care providers and first responders) and First Aid (for the community and workplace) Certifications.
  • Participation in outdoor and indoor activities.
  • Must be able to lift 40-50 pounds.
  • Must be 18 years old or enrolled in a qualifying training program.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have 24 hours of Keystone STARS approved training.
Essential Functions
  • With coordination from Childcare Operations Director, plan, develop, supervise, implement and direct designated childcare program.
  • Plan, develop, supervise and implement all aspects of Early Learning & School Age program.
  • Assist Childcare Operations Director in promoting programs and events.
  • Schedule, monitor and train staff in accordance with state licensing regulations and budget guidelines.
  • Works in ratio at least twenty hours per week.
  • Ensures center compliance to all state licensing regulations including record keeping.
  • Facilitate strong communication between the center and the parents and special service agencies.
  • Proper ordering of equipment and supplies.
  • Performance Standard Activities Required of All Childcare Personnel:
  • Responsible for the safety of the children.
  • Understanding and implementation of emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Act as a role model for the children at all times.
  • Attendance at all staff meetings.
  • Attendance at all in-service trainings.
  • Assist as a mentor for new employees.
  • Attendance at parent conferences and at parent/child events as requested.
  • Supporting the program goals and the mission of the YMCA.
  • Assumes other duties as requested by program coordinator or designee.
