Job Description

The Community Fitness Specialist will lead and coordinate individuals or groups in specified activities including but not limited to personal training, sports performance training, baseball programs, group exercise classes and fitness center orientations.

Qualifications
  • Must possess excellent knowledge in areas of health and fitness.
  • Bachelor's Degree in kinesiology, exercise science or closely related field.
  • Personal training certificate is preferred.
  • Strong communication and human relation skills.
  • Ability to effectively motivate and encourage a diverse population.
  • Ability to be a sensitive, patient and conscientious leader.
Essential Functions
  • Assess community needs and develop engaging health and wellness programs that inspire participation, support member goals, and strengthen overall community well-being.
  • Create a welcoming fitness center experience by actively engaging members, providing guidance on proper equipment use, and connecting individuals with programs that support their personal wellness journey.
  • Promote personal training services through positive member interactions, relationship-building, and a strong commitment to helping clients achieve meaningful fitness results.
  • Plan, organize, and lead dynamic youth programming, including sport-specific training, baseball programs, and other activities that build skills, confidence, and teamwork.
  • Coordinate and manage youth basketball leagues, creating a positive, organized, and fun experience for participants, families, volunteers, and staff.
  • Conduct fitness center orientations for new and existing members, helping them feel confident, safe, and comfortable using available equipment and resources.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming fitness environment by monitoring equipment condition and promptly communicating repair or replacement needs to the Branch Director.
  • Monitor participant progress, maintain accurate records and files, and use participant information to support continued engagement and success.
  • Champion a culture of safety by ensuring participants follow injury prevention policies and procedures, reporting accidents or incidents, and completing required documentation promptly and accurately.
  • Support member service operations as needed, contributing to a friendly, responsive, and mission-focused experience for all members and guests.
  • Contribute to branch success by performing additional duties as assigned by the Branch Director with flexibility, professionalism, and a team-oriented mindset.
Required Certifications
  • Maintain current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
  • Maintain current personal training certification.
  • Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training must be completed within the first 90 days of employment and every 3 years thereafter.
  • Mandated reporter training must be completed within the first 90 days of employment and every 5 years thereafter.
