POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Gymnastics provides strategic leadership and oversight for all gymnastics programs and staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, best-in-class programming. Responsibilities include the development, administration, and supervision of a comprehensive range of offerings, including recreational gymnastics classes, private lessons, camps, and YMCA competitive gymnastics.

Working under the direction of the Executive Director and in alignment with the YMCA's mission, the Director of Gymnastics is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to the YMCA's core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Success in this role requires exceptional leadership, staff development, and a passion for creating positive experiences that engage and inspire children and families through gymnastics programming.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in related field or equivalent work experience.
  • USAG Certification.
  • 5 Years coaching & teaching experience in competitive-level gymnastics.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in program development
  • Demonstrated skills in staff and volunteer development and the ability to project enthusiasm to participants.
  • Must possess highly effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills and perform job duties with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proven experience in budget and fiscal management.
  • Ability to work independently and a willingness to work irregular hours including nights and weekends.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid Certified or within 30 days of hire.
  • Completion of YMCA team leader certification preferred.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor locations.

Essential Functions
  1. Directs and supervises all recreational gymnastics and competitive team programs, staff, and activities to meet community needs and achieve YMCA goals and objectives.
  2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and supervises staff and coaches. Conducts performance evaluations and implements strategies to motivate staff, enhance performance, and achieve program goals.
  3. Develops and implements new gymnastics programs and services while expanding existing offerings in alignment with YMCA strategic and operational plans.
  4. Creates and manages schedules for recreational gymnastics classes, competitive team practices, competitions, and special events.
  5. Assists with the marketing, promotion, and distribution of program information and oversees program registration processes as needed.
  6. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance program visibility and participation.
  7. Develops, manages, and monitors program budgets to ensure financial sustainability and achievement of fiscal objectives.
  8. Coordinates the scheduling, maintenance, and effective utilization of facilities and equipment for gymnastics programs and events.
  9. Supports YMCA fundraising initiatives, special events, and community engagement activities.
  10. Demonstrates and models strong relationship-building skills, including the YMCA's Listen First approach, in all interactions.
  11. Responds promptly and professionally to member, participant, and community inquiries, concerns, and complaints.
  12. Compiles, analyzes, and maintains program records, reports, statistics, and other documentation to support program evaluation, planning, and compliance requirements.
  13. Other duties as assigned.
