Job Description

Responsible for the development, organization and implementation of high-quality programs and events in areas of the Early Learning Center, Kinder Camp, Family.  Additionally, provides leadership to ensure that all services offered through the Rye Y meet the member-centric standards set by the Rye YMCA.

Qualifications

1.    Bachelor's degree in education, social services, recreation, or equivalent.

2.    Four or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other childcare setting.

3.    Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fundraising.

4.    Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations.

5.    Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.

6.    Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.

7.    YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred or willing to achieve.

8.    CPR and First Aid certifications may be required.

9.    Ability to meet OCFS Director Approval and NYS certification requirements for a Camp Director.

Essential Functions

1.    Develops, implements and manages operating plans, events and schedules to promote program and/or membership growth and retention for the YMCA.  Execute strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and with the YMCA.

2.    Recruits, trains, develops, evaluates, recognizes, holds accountable and directs staff and volunteers in assigned areas, to ensure safe, high-quality member-focused services through innovative program development, evaluations and ongoing staff training.  Ensure staff certifications are current and complete. Models’ relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.   

3.    Develops and controls budgets related to the position.

4.    Direct and supervise program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Establish new program activities and expand program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. 

5.    Ensures quality results by monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness and adhering to program standards.  Provides data and reports as required for assigned programs.

6.    Monitors daily operations and ensures compliance/training with all state and local licensing/regulations (including but not limited to OCFS, YMCA Best Practices, American Camp Association standards and Department of Health policies).  Ensures that all procedures are followed and accurate records are maintained.

7.    Provides leadership and support for the annual fundraising campaign.

Keeps updated professional knowledge of all programs through self-study, research, and/or conference/workshop participation.

Required Certifications
