Nestled on the shores of Lake Ocoee, YMCA Camp Ocoee’s setting is breath-taking. The camp is set deep in the Cherokee National Forest in southeastern Tennessee and has provided a Y camp experience since 1923.

Job Description

Program Coordinator for summer 2026 (full-time/seasonal)!

Camp Dates: May 18, 2026 - July 31, 2026 (first two weeks are training).

As a Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for supervising, coordinating and planning all aspects of the daily camp program and provide daily oversight to activity staff.

Qualifications
  • Must be at least 20 years of age or older
  • High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred
  • Experience in resident camp required
  • Experience supervising staff and making schedules highly preferred
  • Valid driver's license required (F4 Classification needed)
  • Proven experience working with children
  • Familiarity with camping and various outdoor activities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Leadership, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • A good understanding of risk management and safety
  • Positive, energetic, reliable, self-motivated, and patient attitude
Essential Functions
  • Focus on safety and fun for all campers
  • Schedule camper and cabin groups daily activities
  • Create tailored schedules based on children's age groups and interests
  • Help solve camper issues
  • Plan all evening activities and special activities
  • Demonstrate leadership in your involvement of other camp activities and events
  • Schedule duty roster and staff time off
  • Perform first aid or provide care for injuries as needed
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including hiking, running, crouching, and carrying children
  • Walking up to 5 miles per day, stooping, standing, hearing, seeing, and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings and varying weather conditions and temperatures
