Develops, organizes and implements high-quality YMCA school age child care, day camp, enrichment camps and enrichment programs. Researches and recommends innovative programs and new delivery models in accordance with Berwick Area YMCA strategic and operating plans.
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent, or an Associate's Degree and combination of education and experiences.
One to two years related experience in the development of school-age programs. Excellent organizational abilities. Strong communication skills and ability to relate with community stakeholders. Typical requirements within an agreed-upon period from date of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention Training; CPR; First Aid; AED; New Staff Orientation and Customer Service training. Ability to pass background checks in accordance with all Berwick Area YMCA policies for child abuse prevention.
1. Manages, directs and coordinates school age child care, day camp, enrichment camps and other youth enrichment programs. Ensures high-quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Recommends, develops and implements new and selected programs.
2. Identifies new program opportunities and establishes additional programs within the Berwick Area YMCA service area.
3. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Develops a cohesive staff team.
4. Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
5. Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
6. Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports outstanding youth development and enrichment.
7. Builds a culture of philanthropy within the department by building Y ambassadors within your staff/volunteer team, building relationships, and creating a case for support.
8. Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
9. Identifies potential collaborative partners and funders and builds strong, strategic relationships with current and prospective partners inside and outside the Y. Effectively communicates community benefit and the Y’s impact for all stakeholders (e.g., staff, volunteers, members, community leaders) and assists in development of grant proposals to help fund the Y’s enrichment programs.
10. Provides staff leadership for YMCA special events and committees as assigned.
11. Maintains proper records/department files.
12. Organizes special events for parents. Supports YMCA fundraising activities.
13. Implements effective marketing strategies and assists in the distribution of program information.
14. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
15. Ensures grant-funded programs meet outcome goals and grant requirements.
