Job Description

Responsible for the general administration of a YMCA branch, including planning, goal setting, fiscal management, key staff supervision, volunteer and community relations, program administration of core businesses, control and evaluation of operations, and financial development.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, education, recreation or equivalent preferred.
  • Five or more years of related experience in supervision, membership marketing, financial management, fundraising and community program development.
  • Experience with computers including word processing and database software.
  • Ability to direct the total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Ability to work effectively with people.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • YMCA Senior Director experience and certification preferred.
Essential Functions
  • Directs the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch, volunteer development and recognition.
  • Oversees and directs the program quality in all program areas. Responsible for all program budgetary commitments for a the branch which has 80% of its revenue generated from programs.
  • Directs the financial development activities of the branch, including 100% of board members working as campaign volunteers, maintaining a campaign goal minimum that is 5% of the branch operating budget, and collecting 90% of all pledges by each year-end.
  • Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, schools, and governmental entities, including Arizona Department of Health
  • Services and Arizona Department of Economic Security.
  • Maintains volunteer committees including membership.
  • Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of staff.
  • Develops, implements, and manages the financial plan of the branch.
  • Directs strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
  • Develops, directs, and monitors high quality programs which support branch and association mission, goals, and strategies.
  • Develops, directs, and monitors high quality services for YMCA members.
  • Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment including all off-site locations.
  • Reviews and revises branch preventive maintenance plans annually.
  • Directs branch marketing and communication efforts including that of character development.
  • Serves as an Association Management Team member and supports the Association's overall objectives.
  • Incorporates the mission, philosophy, and 4 core values of the YMCA in all communication with participants and co-workers.
  • Follow employees and volunteers screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk.
  • Provide employees and volunteers with ongoing supervision and training related to abuse risk.
  • Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with consumers.
  • Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.
  • Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization’s progressive disciplinary procedures.
  • Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements.
  • Communicate to all employees and volunteers the organization’s commitment to protect their consumers from abuse.
  • Report essential abuse risk management information to the board of directors.
