The Sr. Family Program Director will play a key role in ensuring safe, engaging, and impactful family programs at YMCA at Norton Commons and within our elementary school partnership.  This person is directly responsible for the success of our summer camp programming, school partnerships (Chancey, Norton Commons) and additional family programming.  The person in this role will oversee and support our Sports Program Director and our Kids Club Director to create, organize, market, deliver and manage all aspects of family program offerings.

Essential Functions

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Uphold the mission of the YMCA, and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature.
  • Serves as a role model and advocate of the YMCA Mission, Promise, Values and Voice.
  • A leader who possesses initiative, enthusiasm, and strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Oversee vision and operation of branch summer day camps that encompass preschool age through middle school age children, from budgeting, marketing, hiring, training, and scheduling with the camp director, all reporting directly to this position.
  • Set and model exceptional standards for member service.
  • Model safety and care expectations for infants, toddlers, and school-age children.
  • Oversee the development and management of Kids Club, Sports, Summer Camp, Ninja Zone, School Partnership Programming etc. to ensure a high-quality, engaging experience. 
  • Oversee the development of the Kids Club Director and the Sports Director.
  • Lead, create, research, budget and implement programs for a variety of ages that meet the mission and purpose of the YMCA.
  • Manage staff schedules using scheduling software, ensuring coverage and availability in a timely manner.
  • Plan and lead family events such as our fall festival, member appreciation events and partnership programs with Norton Commons Elementary.
  • Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members. Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in, and web registration. Coordinates with marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Program Directors on related issues.
  • Provide updates to the Associate Executive Director on staff development, program development, program quality and other metrics.
  • Take initiative to address and resolve member concerns to ensure safety and satisfaction in a timely manner.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents and community partners.
  • Ensure all members and participants understand the YMCA’s charitable history by passionately participating in the Annual Campaign.
  • All other duties as assigned.
