Camp Ravencliff is a rustic YMCA summer camp located along the Eel River in Northern California. Our camp is a welcoming, inclusive community where campers and staff grow through outdoor adventure, leadership, and connection. Camp is physically demanding, deeply rewarding, and life-changing for many who experience it.

Job Description

Position: Residential Camp Cabin Leader
Location: Redway, CA (transportation provided from Sonoma County Family YMCA, Santa Rosa CA)
Dates: June 26 – August 2, 2026 (includes paid training June 26-July 5)
Pay: $676-736 per week (depending on experience & certifications) 

Housing & Meals: provided at no cost 

Employment Type: Seasonal, Full-Time, Residential 

We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible Camp Cabin Leaders for our summer program. Cabin Leaders live at camp for the duration of employment and play a critical role in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging camp experience.

What You’ll Do-

Live in a rustic cabin with up to 8 campers (ages 8–14) and a teen leader (CILT).

Supervise and engage campers throughout daily activities. 

Take your cabin on an overnight backwoods campout each week – cook over a campfire and sleep under the stars!

Support camp-wide programs, lead activities, and help make every day magical.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For-

Required: 

Age 18+ and high school graduate.

Available for full duration (June 26-August 2)

Experience working with children.

Ability to thrive in rugged outdoor conditions.

CPR & First Aid certified by June 19 (YMCA reimburses cost).

Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Fingerprint clearance from both Department of Justice (DOJ) & FBI, which includes sex offender screening

Preferred: 

Some college coursework

Previous residential camp experience as a staff or camper 

Lifeguard certification or willingness to obtain

Essential Functions

Camper Supervision & Care
Provide 24/7 supervision and leadership for assigned cabin group, including living with campers, supporting daily routines, promoting personal hygiene and safety, fostering positive cabin dynamics, and ensuring overall camper wellbeing.

Program Leadership & Delivery
Plan, lead, and participate in engaging cabin activities, reflections, and assigned camp programs (small group and all‑camp), including a weekly overnight campout involving outdoor cooking, programming, and overnight supervision.

Safety, Behavior Management & Emergency Response
Maintain a safe camp environment by following all safety, emergency, and behavior management procedures, treating all participants with dignity and respect, and responding appropriately to incidents or emergencies.

Teamwork, Communication & Training Participation
Actively participate in required staff training, meetings, and camp operations; communicate regularly with the Camp Director; and collaborate positively with fellow staff to support camp goals and operations.

Camp Operations Support
Assist with camp-wide needs such as leading campfires or morning inspirations, supporting clean-up or maintenance tasks, and completing additional duties as assigned to ensure smooth daily camp operations.

Required Certifications

CPR & First Aid certified by June 19 (YMCA reimburses cost).
