YMCA of The Triangle and A.E. Finley YMCA is seeking to hire a Senior Sports Director! 
Job Description

Under the supervision of the Branch Executive Director, the Sports Director is responsible for the sports programs serving the adults and youth of the A.E. Finley YMCA.  They are responsible for managing all programs in accordance with the stated mission, goals and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees and Board of Directors of the YMCA.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred and/or 2-3 years of related experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience in youth programming, program development and personnel development. 
  • Experienced and passionate about creating and fostering communities and relationship building through programs.
  • Ability to effectively manage staff and programs. 
  • Exceptional oral, public speaking and written communication skills.  
  • Possess a high level of organization, ability to prioritize and possess the capacity to respond and handle multiple tasks appropriately in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
  • Requires a positive attitude, high-level of initiative and professionalism, and enjoy working in and creating a strong team environment.
  • Demonstrate initiative, effectively prioritize, and possess strong organizational, analytical and project management skills. 
  • Capacity to assist in the management of facilities, equipment, and programs.
  • CPR, AED, O2 and First Aid certifications and a commercial Driver’s License, with “P” endorsement, in order to drive a YMCA bus as needed.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Multi-lingual desired but not required.
     
Essential Functions
  • Contributes to and supervises the fulfillment of the YMCA mission through the assigned department activities and programs.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations to include but not be limited to community schools, parks and recreation departments, county, city and town officials.
  • Maintains regular, clear, and concise internal and external communication within area of responsibility to include but not limited to league, practice and game day schedules/reschedules.
  • Collaborates with Marketing to ensure current brand compliance for website information and hard copy materials are maintained.
  • Continual evaluation, improvement and innovation of all assigned programs to ensure they meet or exceed Association guidelines and standards.
  • Plans, organizes, promotes and executes high-quality sports programming serving both youth and adults. 
    Ensures quality program delivery to members, participants, staff and volunteers. 
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining all budget expectations for respective program areas.
  • Ensures all Association administrative, business, human resources, financial, operational and safety protocols are followed.
  • Provide leadership to the YMCA Annual Campaign through development of staff team, discovery, cultivation, recruitment and support of volunteers and meeting annual fundraising goals as assigned.
  • Maintains all records of their assigned programs that are necessary for the operation of the department and branch effectively.
  • Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Responsible for onboarding and developing them for success.
  • Responsible for volunteer recruitment and development in assigned program areas with a focus on increasing volunteerism. Participates in coaches meetings, trainings and registrations.
  • Maintains current and required certifications and records for staff according to the YMCA of the Triangle requirements. 
  • Participates and leads association teams and projects as assigned. Attends all meetings that are pertinent to this position including program, branch and any assigned association team meetings.
  • Drives program quality by being present and actively facilitating and supervising practices, providing support and coaching to staff and volunteers. Ensures presence in programs 2-3 evenings per week and 2 weekends per month.
  • Direct Program Oversight: Leads and supervises all youth sports staff.
  • Coordinates gym usage for the branch with other YMCA programs and membership.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
