Job Description

The Membership Director at the Bittner YMCA leads all aspects of membership growth, engagement, and retention. This role oversees front desk operations, member experience initiatives, and community outreach to ensure a welcoming, service-driven environment. The Membership Director develops and executes strategies to meet enrollment goals, manages and trains membership staff, analyzes trends and metrics, and collaborates with branch leadership to support the Y’s mission. This position plays a key role in strengthening community relationships and ensuring every member feels valued and supported.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Previous YMCA or recreation/fitness industry experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Functions

What You'll Do:

  • Lead all aspects membership operations, including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and retention.
  • Create and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and efficient operations.
  • Provide excellent customer service and foster a welcoming environment for all members and guests.
  • Supervise and develop front-desk and membership staff to deliver outstanding service.
  • Use data and feedback to improve processes and enhance member satisfaction.
Required Certifications
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification*
  • Mandatory Reporter*
    *Note: If not currently certified, must obtain certification within 30 days of hire. All the above certification training programs are provided by the YMCA staff.
