Job Description

The Branch Wellness and Membership Director leads the Wellness (Fitness & Group Exercise) and Membership teams to ensure the YMCA is the most welcoming place on earth. This role is responsible for exceeding revenue goals, managing expenses, and delivering exceptional member experiences. The Director oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of wellness and membership programs, ensuring growth in participation and retention. Responsibilities include staff recruitment and development, budget management, program innovation, and community engagement.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum two years in Fitness, Member Services, and Sales
  • Strong sales and customer service background
  • Two years of supervisory experience preferred
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications required
  • Nationally recognized Group Exercise/ Fitness certification (NASM, ACSM, ACE, AFAA) preferred
  • Ability to teach multiple group exercise formats
  • Experience with diverse populations and community collaboration
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Must maintain required training certifications per association policy
Essential Functions
  • Lead and improve Member Services, Fitness, and Group Exercise programs
  • Develop and manage retention strategies and incentive programs
  • Create and maintain group exercise schedules and monitor participation metrics
  • Ensure staff certifications are current and compliant
  • Lead corporate membership initiatives and community outreach
  • Oversee all aspects of HR for department staff and volunteers
  • Implement cross-training between fitness and membership teams
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and professionalism in all program areas
  • Coordinate with marketing to promote programs and events
  • Represent the YMCA at community events and organize in-house member events
  • Design and implement fitness training programs (strength, agility, etc.)
  • Monitor and report on budget performance; implement corrective actions as needed
  • Support annual fundraising campaigns and participate in leadership meetings
  • Ensure compliance with YMCA policies and procedures
