Director of Healthy Living/Wellness

Seeking a dynamic leader to lead our Healthy Living Department.
Job Description

The Healthy Living Director leads the healthy living operations and services ensuring quality programming to our members and community. The Healthy Living Director promotes a positive, professional and welcoming atmoshpere by providing excellent custormer service. This person is responsible for engaging members of all ages through programming initiatives, relationship building, and member retention. 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Public Health, Recreation Managment or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2-3 years of experience of healthy living programming
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance, repair coordination and safe operation of fitness equipment
  • Ability to build positive relationships with members, staff and community partners with a commitment to delivering high quality member service
  • Experience in working with Active Older Adults and chronic disease prevention participants
  • Proficient with office technology and software
  • Effective written communication skills, ability to communicate verbally to individuals and groups
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and occaisional holidays as needed
  • Ability to acquire and maintian the following certifications:
    • First Aid/CPR/AED
    • Personal Training Certification
    • Group Exercise Certification
Essential Functions
  • Promotes, supports and directs staff, members and community partners on the benefits of participation in key healthy living programs to maximize the health and well being of the community
  • Monitor program quality, outcomes and member satisfaction
  • Leads wellness focused events and programs that support healthy living goals for individuals and the community
  • Responsible for the development of marketing materials for health and fitness programming
  • Prepares, submits and manages departmental budgets, payroll and other projects as assigned with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Recruits, trains, develops and schedules Wellness Coaches, Group Exercise Instructors, Personal Trainers and EBHI Staff
  • Facilitates annual and quarterly wellness programming including member challenges, etc.
  • Ensures cleanliness of all fitness rooms through daily cleaning checklist and equipment maintenance plan
  • Be visibly involved with members, volunteers and staff in a positive, friendly manner
  • Serve as an instructor when needed for group exercise, equipment orientations, etc.
  • Assists in Y fundraising activities and special events.
