Job Description

This individual will bring deep respect for the Y’s history, mission, and community impact, paired with a forward-looking growth mindset. As a relationship- and results-oriented fundraiser, the Director will collaborate across departments, with volunteers, and with community partners to secure the resources needed to advance the Y’s work.

This role is a cornerstone of the Y’s efforts to strengthen community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Director of Development will oversee a full range of fundraising activities—from annual giving campaigns to major gifts and institutional support.

Approximately 40–50% of this role will be devoted to direct donor and prospect engagement—through meetings, events, and visits.

Qualifications

- Passion for the YMCA’s mission.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum five years of fundraising experience.
- Experience soliciting in face-to-face meetings.
- Exceptional writing and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work with diverse constituencies.
- Willingness to work evenings/weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Essential Functions

- Manage a portfolio of prospects through all phases of the giving cycle.
- Build a robust annual giving program.
- Leverage cultivation opportunities.
- Research and qualify new prospects.
- Draft compelling funding proposals.
- Prepare communications and acknowledgments.
- Develop stewardship plans.
- Maintain accurate donor records.
- Collaborate on special events.
- Participate in team meetings.
